N.Y.C.M.J

James and I have just come back from New York for the annual CMJ Festival. Its a marathon of new bands and parties across various venues offering up a heap of talent from the states and the UK and this year didn’t disappoint!

Im a bit of a fog head today as I hot footed it straight from the airport to the office, but reliving some amazing memories by hunting down some of the band we saw out there!

Electric Guest were the buzz band of the festival it seems playing numerous venues. Each show was packed out which in some cases had an all star turn out with the likes of Julian Casablancas and Danger Mouse nodding their heads all very casually - clearly impressed by this duo.

I am obsessed at the moment with the track Dreamers by Savoir Adore - they remind me of Wave Machines and played a superb set at Santos Party House.

Brite Futures played a handful of shows over the festival bringing their colourful music to NYC. They performed new single ‘Too Young To Kill’ and ‘Baby Rain’ to pack out crowds including NME Magazine who are big fans of the band!

The Neon Gold / Plugged In New Shapes party was a great success. Headline Gotye absolutely nailed his set gaining much media praise from Nylon Magazine.http://www.nylonmag.com/?section=article&parid=7075

Other great sets came from Brite Futures, ANR and Forte Lean.

After the show James and I sprinted across town to catch a secret set from Azaelia Banks. Gaining momentum across the internet with her massive tune ‘212’ the room was packed out and even though she came on an hour late, she did not disappoint the crowd!

We’d also like to give a shout out to Lizzy, Emily and Mikey for their amazing night #FUZZ showcasing some great bands including Dirty Fences and Street Chant.

Until next year…
